William S. Rockwell Distinguished Service Award History :         Bill Rockwell was one of the founding fathers of the California Coaches Assn. in 1957. He was one of
a select group of coaches that formed the Northern California Basketball Coaches Assn. in 1948. That
evolved into the CCA. In 1965, Rockwell and Bob Troppmann organized the Athletic Directors and
incorporated them with Cal Coaches. Bill Rockwell taught physical education and coached basketball
at Fremont HS in 0akland. In the late 50's, he moved on to coach basketball and teach at 0akland
Junior College (it is now known as Merritt College).
